Jean Poivre
Lost in Moon River
Aquatic · EDP · 2022
A quiet aquatic that behaves. Cold citrus and green violet leaf for the first hour, then a clean musk that sits close to the skin for the rest of the workday. Three wears including one on a rainy commute; nothing about it surprised me, and for this genre that is the point.
Context
Jean Poivre is a small European house that mostly sells through niche story shops. Lost in Moon River is their entry aquatic, priced below the usual niche floor.
On skin
Yuzu and mint open cold and slightly bitter, which keeps it out of shower-gel territory. Violet leaf pulls it green through the heart. After hour two it is a skin scent: musk and a dry wood note that lasted a full workday on the sixth hour of testing. Projection is modest by design; two extra sprays do not turn it into a projector, they just waste juice.
Value
The per-millilitre math works for an EDP in this class, and the bottle is honest about what it is. As a warm-weather daily it is an easy buy.
Verdict
Buy if you want a clean daily for warm months. Sample first only if sweet aquatics have burned you before; this one stays dry.

Before a bottle
Ask for 2 to 10 ml. Wear it three times on your own skin. A blotter will not tell you what hour four smells like.
