Coconut · EDP · 2021
Sunscreen without the shame. Coconut and lime up front, tiare through the middle, a soft sandal finish. It reads beach on first spray and stays polite about it. Three wears in late summer heat; in direct sun the coconut turns faintly boozy, which some will love.
Context
Niche, the house behind Malibu, built its shelf presence on affordable solinotes-style bottles sold through European niche retailers. Malibu is their coconut entry.
On skin
Opening is lime-peel brightness over creamy coconut; the tiare heart arrives within the hour and does most of the work. Five to six hours on skin in warm weather, which is respectable for the genre. On fabric it clings a full day. Sillage is moderate for the first two hours, then close-wearing.
Value
Fair for the price tier. The coconut reads more like the fruit than the candy, which separates it from the discount beach crowd.
Verdict
A decant covers a vacation. A bottle makes sense only if tropical creams are already your shelf.

Before a bottle
Ask for 2 to 10 ml. Wear it three times on your own skin. A blotter will not tell you what hour four smells like.
